Broadcast on Deutschlandfunk on centered around new upcoming recording with works by American composer Bernard Benoliel
Today at 21:05h, Deutschlandfunk will center their program ‘Musik-Panorama’ around Ralph’s upcoming recording of the complete Piano Sonatas by the fascinating American composer Bernard Benoliel. Bernard Benoliel’s music combines post‑serial complexity with an almost mystical, Bruckner‑like sense of stillness and transcendence, creating scores that feel both rigorously constructed and spiritually charged. His works often reveal a hard, brilliant surface that gradually opens into calm, numinous lyricism, shaped by influences from Wolpe, Busoni, Beethoven, and the American Transcendentalists. The recording, made in the Deutschlandfunk studio in Cologne in June last year, will be released as a double-CD on July 1, 2026. Today’s broadcast will present a selection of this recording, with spoken introductions by presenter Yvonne Petitpierre.
