Website Opus Klassiek has published a review written by Emanuel Overbeeke, biographer of Pierre Boulez. Quoting:
The pieces deserve repeated performances, but whether they will come is questionable, because competing with Van Raat’s performances is a huge problem. With superior performances, one needn’t wonder whether the works suffer from a lesser performance. I suspect that such performances rarely occur because these extreme pieces (in the best sense of the word) are especially appealing to extreme musicians (also in the best sense of the word), whose extremity (also in the best sense of the word) completely disqualifies less extreme interpreters. Or will there ever be a time when these highly versatile pieces fall into the hands of musicians of a completely different nature? You never know, of course, but the music is good enough for it.
