Dutch premieres of piano works by John Adams!
Last week, Ralph has toured The Netherlands with the complete works for piano duo by John Adams, including the Dutch premieres of Roll over Beethoven and the pianoduo version of Short Ride in a Fast Machine. As the planned piano duo partner Joanna MacGregor unfortunately was unable to do the tour, Dutch pianist Maarten van Veen substituted for the complete series. The program was completed by Ralph playing Beethoven’s Sonata opus 110 and John Adams’ Phrygian Gates, all in presence of the composer during one of the concerts. Ralph and Maarten also recorded the duo works on CD for Naxos – stay tuned for release dates! This CD will be a follow-up to the CD published earlier, and available here.
